FUTURE BEAVER SPOTLIGHT: Kaily Zewald

Future Beaver Spotlight

Kaily Zewald is an 8th grader at Whitford Middle School. She is passionate about school, sports, and music. She enjoys playing soccer, basketball, the piano, and also sings. Her favorite color is purple and favorite food is anything Mexican. Last summer, she went to Europe with her family, and that has become her new favorite place to go. She looks up her family and teachers because they want her to do her best and are very helpful. She has one older sister who happens to be her best friend because she is very supportive! In the future, Kaily would like to grow up to be an engineer or doctor. Kaily, we are so excited to see you next year at THE Beaverton High School!

ALUMNUS SPOTLIGHT: Anthony Loy

Anthony graduated last year as part of the Class of 2018. He enjoys reading poetry and novels, learning new languages, playing the piano, and photography.

At Beaverton, he was part of Multicultural Student Union and Health Careers. Anthony loved Multicultural Student Union because he was able to learn about different cultures and advocate for diversity.

His favorite part of high school was the Health Careers program because he got to explore one of his biggest passions and learn new ideas. He is very thankful for this program because it opened new doors into the future for him and many others! Now, Anthony is doing prerequisites for a nursing program and plans to transfer to either Oregon Health and Science University, Linfield, or Pacific University to join their nursing program. In college, he became more passionate about global warming, helping the community, preservation of history, and blood donations.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Elvin Choi

Elvin is a sophomore at THE Beaverton High School. Elvin attended West Tualatin View for elementary school and Cedar Park for middle school. He has lived his whole life in Beaverton and has one younger brother named Derek. Elvin takes pride in his schoolwork and suggests that everyone at Beaverton studies hard and uses their time well. Elvin is an example of this as he earned a PERFECT score on the ACT last June!

Elvin’s favorite subjects in school are history and math because he is good at them, and he finds them interesting. He loves going to Beaverton High School because he has a very strong group of friends. During his free time, Elvin enjoys playing the piano and the cello.

Elvin is an accomplished cellist and was selected for All-State Orchestra and sat First Chair, Principal Cellist. He was also selected to play in the All-National Orchestra and will join students from around the USA to play in Florida this fall.
