Meet Bucky’s Family member, Naomi Ezra!
COMMUNITY CONNECTS US.
Naomi Ezra has lived in Oregon her whole life. When she was 2 years old, she moved from West Linn to Beaverton. She comes from an Ethiopian family, and most of her dad’s side of the family lives in Israel while most of her mom’s side lives in Ethiopia. She also has three brothers: Jonathan is 18; Nathan is 8; and Joshua is 5 years old. Nathan has had the most impact on her life because he is only 8 years old but, for his age, he gives her really good advice, and he is wise.
Naomi attended Sexton Mountain Elementary, Highland Park Middle School, and is currently a junior at Beaverton High School. Naomi’s hobbies consists of hiking, swimming, listening to music, and hanging out with friends/family. At beaverton, her favorite subjects are Spanish and Art. Outside of school, Naomi likes summer, architecture, scenery, traveling, and friends. She dislikes chocolate, annoying people, and rain. Naomi’s strengths are standing up for herself when needed, being outspoken, and doesn’t care about what people think of her unless the person is close to her. Her weaknesses are being stubborn and not listening to others when she should.
Throughout junior year, Naomi has become comfortable with who she is and being confident. She also started accepting herself as a black person living in a more white populated community. Naomi also doesn’t mold to what society wants with her appearance, “I am my own person.” Her biggest influence are strong black women. She is surrounded by them in her family, and appreciates how they have “gone through so much oppression as a race”. She is most grateful for the good people in the world, the people that don’t see color or discriminate.
When Naomi was 9, she traveled to Ethiopia and visited family for a wedding. Throughout the trip, she got to see where her family grew up. She noticed how impoverished the environment was and it was cool to see her family come from that. Naomi would like to travel to Thailand. She wants to go there because of the oceans, and the buildings/architecture are so unique there. After high school, Naomi wants to study law in college. She wants to be an attorney for human rights. Overall, Naomi wants a good job she enjoys and to be happy. Naomi wants to be remembered as a good person, someone who changed the world, and affected people through joy, happiness, or laughter.
