Hard WORK Pays Off with a Dream Come True

By Cortlandt Nelsen, senior

The past month at Beaverton High School was very exciting!  Two weeks ago TODAY, multiple students (including myself) had the opportunity to officially sign with their college of choice and represent their favorite sport.

Many of these students have been playing sports since a very young age, and they’ve worked very hard to get to this point.  All of the hours of practice and hard work are finally paying off and helping them start a new chapter in their life.  All of these students will have the chance to further their abilities in the sport that they are playing in college.

There is nothing better than being a part of your college’s athletic program.  This is a great way to connect with your new school and have the chance to meet other students from other schools who possibly end up becoming lifelong friends.  As for me, I am starting a whole new experience at the University of Redlands in Southern California.  I am very excited to be in a new environment with no familiar faces.  I can’t wait to see what the next four years at Redlands has in store for me.  I am also very excited to be a part of their swim team and I hope that I can help lead the team to victory as well as improve individually.

Congratulations to everyone at Beaverton High School who is playing a sport for their college in the fall of 2016 and best of luck!
