Never Doubt the Blazers

By Nick Balashov, senior

EXCELLENCE INSPIRES US.

The Portland Trail Blazers have been doubted all season by “experts and analysts”; these so called “experts” predicted the Blazers to finish 29th out of the 30 teams in the league.  You kidding me; were they actually serious?!

Let me tell you something, the Blazers did much better than 29th in the league, they actually ended up being the 5th seed in the Western Conference, which definitely deserves recognition.  Not only did they get the 5th seed, but they won the first round of the playoffs against the Los Angeles Clippers.  Talk about exceeding expectations, right!?

They already proved the “experts and analysts” wrong, now time to prove them and everyone else dumb enough to doubt the Blazers wrong again for doubting we could beat the Clippers and move on to the next round of the playoffs against the Warriors!

In my opinion, this season and it’s success can all be attributed to the silent assassin like point guard, Damian Lillard.  Like come on, who doesn’t know his name now, he is slowly becoming the face of Adidas Basketball, he has started an online phenomenon known as #4BarFriday, and now he’s leading the youngest team in the NBA in the playoffs.  Without his leadership, dedication, and the ability to motivate his teammates, the Blazers would not be in the position they are in right now.  Not only are they the youngest in the league, but they also have the lowest salary in the league, and that shows that Damian Lillard has built chemistry within this team, and if you have great team chemistry, it doesn’t matter who you’re playing.
